Young at heart

The Young at Heart Network, which is funded by the Better Neighbourhood Services Fund, is run by the Health and Activity Motivator (Older People). The aims of the project are to:

  • Raise the awareness of any existing services, opportunities and facilities among older people.
  • Encourage older people to adopt a healthier lifestyle with emphasis on physical
    activity and active living.
  • Encourage the older people to become more involved in the delivery of physical activity
within the communities of North West Kilmarnock, Shortlees and Riccarton.

A variety of classes have been started to encourage more people to become more active e.g. walking groups, exercise classes, indoor bowls, relaxation classes and mixed activity sessions. The project has developed an outreach exercise initiative which provides those who are unable to attend classes the opportunity to participate in gentle exercise within their own homes.

The Young at Heart Network is keen to hear from any individual or groups who are be interested in the project

If you wish further information contact the Health & Activity Motivator (Older Persons) on 01563 576641.
